Product Overview

Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis (SHS), also known as combustion synthesis, is a material-processing technology that uses the heat released by a chemical reaction. In the centrifugal SHS process, the reaction between Al and Fe₂O₃ generates heat and causes the Fe and Al₂O₃ phases to separate according to their density difference. After solidification, an Al₂O₃ ceramic lining is formed on the inner wall of the steel pipe.
This composite structure combines the mechanical strength of a steel substrate with the wear and corrosion resistance of an alumina ceramic lining, making it suitable for demanding conveying applications.

Excellent Wear Resistance

The inner lining of the Ceramic Lined Wear-resistant steel pipe is made of corundum ceramic (α-Al₂O₃), with a Vickers hardness of approximately 1100-1400 HV and a Mohs hardness of approximately 9.0. It provides excellent wear resistance against particle erosion and abrasion, making it suitable for conveying slurries, tailings, pulverized coal, ash and other highly abrasive media in metallurgy, power generation, mining and coal-processing applications.

Corrosion Resistance

The ceramic lining of  ceramic-lined pipes offers good chemical stability and corrosion resistance. It is suitable for conveying selected acidic, alkaline, salt-containing and other corrosive media. Unlike an unlined steel surface, the ceramic lining is not susceptible to conventional rust formation and can help maintain a stable internal surface under suitable operating conditions.

Low Flow Resistance

Ceramic Lined Wear-resistant steel pipe feature a relatively smooth internal surface, which can help reduce frictional resistance during fluid conveying.  the measured friction factor was approximately 0.0193. Under suitable operating conditions, lower internal flow resistance can help reduce energy consumption and operating costs in conveying systems.

High-Temperature Performance

Ceramic Lined Wear-resistant steel pipe offer good high-temperature performance and can be used for conveying selected high-temperature gases, liquids and particulate-containing media. The operating temperature range of approximately is −50°C to 700°C. The allowable operating temperature should be confirmed according to pipe design, medium characteristics, temperature variations and actual service conditions.

Impact Resistance

The steel substrate provides mechanical strength and impact resistance, while the ceramic lining provides protection against wear and corrosion. This composite structure combines the structural properties of steel with the surface wear resistance of ceramic, making it suitable for industrial conveying systems subject to particle impact and abrasion.
